Welcome to the Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link Project website
2010 is a momentous year for the people of West Lothian and North Lanarkshire, as the Airdrie – Bathgate Rail Link moves into its final year of construction. The end result will be a direct link to Glasgow and Edinburgh for towns like Caldercruix, Blackridge and Armadale, which have not been connected by rail for over 50 years.
As the tracks that will connect the lineside towns and villages with Scotland’s largest cities are laid, the railway gets closer and closer to becoming a reality.
Every day, the landscape is changing as new stations are built and the biggest infrastructure project in Scotland for decades begins to take shape.
As you navigate your way through the website, you will find information about the brand new stations being built along the line including Blackridge, Caldercruix, Armadale, Bathgate and Drumgelloch. For all those keen cyclists and dog walkers out there, you’ll find details about the new cycle path on the dedicated Cycle Path page.
In the lead up to the big opening in December this year, keep an eye out for project updates - our Project News will keep you informed of our progress while our Gallery page gives picture updates of the ever changing construction site. Most importantly, YOUR page is the place for you to interact with the project team and find out about events in YOUR area.
I hope you enjoy the website and I look forward to welcoming you on board the new rail service at the end of this year!
