REVISED GUIDE TO CODE OF COMPENSATION

Tuesday September 11, 2007

Network Rail is currently undertaking a programme of ground investigation surveys along the route of the new Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link, which will enable the final design of the railway to be completed. Later in the year, Network Rail will then begin the process of buying the land it needs to construct the railway, new stations and relocated cycle path.

Where the construction of the new railway impacts on land owners – or where the project will be compulsorily acquiring land to complete the works - the land/property owners and occupiers concerned may be entitled to claim compensation. As this area of law is very complex and technical, Network Rail has now produced a revised to give a simple summary of rights to compensation and the procedures involved.

While this is only intended to be a basic guide, the document also includes some useful sources of more detailed information, which are given at the end of the leaflet. The new guide can be downloaded here but if you wish to receive a copy in the post, please contact us.
