BEEFED UP TEAM FOR AIRDRIE-BATHGATE
Friday February 09, 2007
The £299.7 million Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link Project has been given a further boost with the appointment of four new members of the Network Rail team.
Network Rail, the Promoter of the Bill, welcomes the appointments of Jeff Jardine and Carol Deveney as project Commercial Schemes Sponsors; Terry Boyle as Temporary Infrastructure Liability Adviser and Claire McCafferty as Team Organiser.
These appointments will build on the existing project team of railway experts, property and commercial surveyors, solicitors, environmentalists, scheme sponsors and managers, public affairs professionals and communication specialists. The new members of the team will help with submitting oral and written evidence to Parliament on the Bill. Their roles will also involve planning for the detailed design and construction of the line - should the Bill be passed in March - and continued community engagement.
Jeff Jardine has been with Network Rail since 2001 when he assumed the role of Senior Delay Resolution Co-ordinator. Before joining Network Rail, Jeff worked for Blue-Chip Marketing based in Edinburgh.
Carol Deveney has now been with Network Rail for five months. She joins the Airdrie Bathgate team from a Local Development Company where she worked as a Project Manager.
Terry Boyle began his career with Network 35 years ago. Before joining the Airdrie-Bathgate team, Terry gained a wealth of experience, working in specialist areas of the organisation including Property Services, Sales and Purchases and Estate Management.
Prior to joining the Airdrie Bathgate project team, Claire McCafferty, who has been with Network Rail for almost two years, was a Team Organiser at the Yoker Depot, near Airdrie.
In mid-November the Airdrie-Bathgate Railway and Linked Improvements Bill passed a significant milestone when it was endorsed by the Parliamentary Committee responsible for scrutinising the proposals. This was followed by unanimous cross-party support for the Bill on the 23rd November 2006, during the Scottish Parliament preliminary stage debate. The endorsement is another milestone towards re-opening the 15-mile Airdrie-Bathgate passenger rail link after 50 years of closure and upgrading existing links between Airdrie and Drumgelloch; and Bathgate and Newbridge Junction.
The final stage debate is scheduled for March 2007.
